'Poles Apart' Review

'Poles Apart' Review

On Friday 11th September, Cognitiv members attended a special performance of John Godber’s new play, Poles Apart. The play examines the role of the theatre in the life of the working man and the role of the working man in the life of the theatre, and asks, are they Poles Apart?

As well as enjoying the performance itself, members were also invited to attend a pre-show auditorium Q&A with John Godber himself. John explained the background and inspiration of the play and answered member questions. In addition, he also shared some of the many stories that have shaped and influenced his career to date.

John Godber's 'Poles Apart' Review

We are very grateful for the support of Wakefield Theatre Royal in delivering this event, who have recently joined Cognitiv as new members. The feedback from members was extremely positive and this reinforced and reminded us of the importance of supporting this vital cultural asset.

Like many cultural organisations, Wakefield Theatre Royal needs the support of the local community to continue to deliver their programme of events and community engagement work. We’d encourage all members to consider how they can help to do this, whether that be by buying performance tickets, joining their popular corporate supporters scheme, sponsoring a seat or attending their forthcoming Gala dinner in February.
