Chair's Blog: September 2015
Sadly, summer is now over as we move into the last third of the year. Like most years, this one has gone fast but it’s encouraging that we’ve continued to make some excellent progress at Cognitiv.
September has seen a number of key milestones:
We’ve continued to welcome new members – and we’re particularly pleased to welcome our new student members from Wakefield College.
New Creative & Digital course at Wakefield College
The first intake of students on the new Creative & Digital course at Wakefield College started this month. Cognitiv employers are supporting this through mentoring and guest talks. If you feel you could help, please do get in touch. A lunch to introduce students to their mentors is scheduled for later in the month.
Member’s event: Poles Apart at Wakefield Theatre
Cognitiv members enjoyed a fantastic performance of John Godber’s latest play, Poles Apart, and even had a chance to speak directly to the man himself in a pre-performance auditorium Q&A.
Whilst we’ve had a lot to celebrate, I’m also regretful to announce that Charlotte Blacker and Heidi Waddington will be stepping down from the committee due to new job commitments. Both Charlotte and Heidi have made fantastic contributions to Cognitiv and they will be missed. I wish them all the best and hope to see them at many Cognitiv event in the future as members.
The committee are working on some new partnerships, events and strategic plans. We’ll be sharing more news shortly! As always, we’d love to hear your ideas – Cognitiv is a community and member feedback is essential to shape the direction of the group.
